The Perfect Gift
The Love of Christ, the perfect gift. The Death of Christ communicates to us the tenderness, joy and delight of the Godhead in bringing salvation; Loves communicates God's desire to be joined to and cling to his body the church; this expresses his desire in terms of compassion, cherishing, tenderness, mercy, pity; and his duty. There are three words that define what we call “Love”. Eros, agape, and Philo. “Eros is the desire men have for a female associate”; this love involves affectionate kissing, and is erotic. This Love attempts to communicate tenderness and delight. It involves a desire to cling to or be joined to each other. Agape: expresses love in terms of compassion; cherishing, tenderness, mercy, or pity; It is both duty and propriety. Propriety means: “the quality or state of being proper; suitableness to an acknowledged or correct standard or rule; consonance with established principles, rules, or customs; fitness; appropriateness; of behavior, language, manners, etc. The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandments. Philo, communicates love in terms of brotherly kindness; friendship, personal sentiment feelings of attachment and fondness. The primary quality that underlies all the different nuances of meaning is, tenderness. Tenderness is the common denominator in all the different shades of meaning. Tenderness is appropriate in erotic love. Tenderness is appropriate in brotherly love. Tenderness is appropriate in God’s love for us, and our love for him.
Tenderness is the appropriate condition the heart must achieve in order for God to forgive and remove sin. God opens his mouth, speaks, and drops his doctrine like drops of the rain, and distill his speech as the dew, upon the tender heart. The Lord showers his word, upon the tender grass. The prophet David, cried: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. For I know O Lord, that the sacrifice you desire and will not despise is a broken spirit and a contrite heart. (Deu 32:1-2; Psa 51:10-17).
The Lord commands us to love him as a matter of duty and propriety. It is right that we should Love God. It is our duty to do so. It is with all thy heart and with all thy soul. He require that we love him, and keep his charge, statutes, judgments, and commandments, always. The Lord require that serve him with all your heart and soul; and that we walk in all his ways, and cleave unto him. He require that our heart, and the heart of our seed be circumcise, that we may live. (Deu 10:12, 15, 19; 11:1, 13, 22; 13:3; 19:9; 30:6).
God want us to live. He wants us to life and length of days. He wants us to take heed to ourselves. He wants us to increase and multiply. He wants us to obey his voice. He wants us to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments. He wants us to be blessed and to possess heaven and earth. God wants us to cleave unto him and have affection for him. God, swore to the fathers. He swore, to Abraham, to Isaac, Jacob and David, to bless us. He swore to let our enemies perish; tom curse those that curse us; and bless those that bless us. He swore to make us as the sun when he goes forth in his might. God swore to set his love upon us. (Deu 30:16, 20; Jos 22:5; 23:11; Jdg 5:31; 16:15).
The saints have tender feelings, of affection for God, because he is their defense. The saints love the Lord and put their trust in him and shout aloud for joy, because he is their strength. The saints cleave to the Lord because, he preserves them. All that seek and love the Lord and his salvation say continually: “ The Lord be magnified”. Such is the cry of those that rejoice and are glad in him. Because, the saints cling to him; because they have delight in him; because are joined to him; God delivers them. God delivers them, because they know his name. God delivers them, because he sits on high. God delivers the saints, because they hate evil and love the Lord. The Lord preserves the souls of his saints; he deliverers them out of the hand of the wicked. The saints have tender feelings, of affection for God, because he hears the voice of their supplications. The saints, shout aloud: “ O how, I have affection for thy law! O how, it is my meditation all the day. O how, I hate vain thoughts, but thy law do I love. O how, thou put away all the wicked of the earth like dross. O how, I love thy testimonies. O how, I love your commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold. O Lord God of heaven, thou great and terrible God, Look thou upon the saints, and be merciful to them, as you used to do unto those that love your name. They who love and pray for the saints shall prosper. (Psa 5:11; 18:1; 31:23; 40:16; 69:36; 70:4; 91:14; 97:10; 109:4; 109:5; 116:1; 119:97, 113, 119, 127, 132).
The Messiah, says: “Love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”. He said: “t love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, mind and strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is, love your neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater, for these are more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. (Mat 5:43, 44, 46); 6:5, 24; 19:19; 22:37, 39; 23:6; 24:12; Mar 12:30, 31, 33).
and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Mar 12:38; Luk 6:27, 32, 35; 7:42; 10:27; 11:42, 43; 16:13; 20:46).
Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; I know that ye have not the love of God in you. Jesus said the scribes: “If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceed forth and came from God”. Jesus, said: “my Father (my divine nature) love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. Therefore, I give you a new commandment. I give unto you to love one another; as I have loved you. I give to so that all men know that ye are my disciples. I give to you to love me, and keep my commandments. He that hath my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that love me: and he that love me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. (Joh 5:42; 8:42; 10:17; 13:34, 35; 14:15, 21, 23; 15:9, 10, 12; 14:31).
The tender affection God has for man, so great, that he was willing to lay down his life. This great affection led God allow himself to be hanged on a pole. In a world that rejected him, his affectionate and tender feelings of compassion and mercy led him to give his soul, as a ransom for many. Christ’s tender feelings, of compassion and mercy, made him pray, that we have within ourselves the same love which was the nature of his divine being. Christ, prayed that his love would be so strong in us, that we would desire to minister to feed his flock, even as he himself ministers. Christ, said to Peter a third time: “ Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter being grieved, said: “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. To wit, Jesus said: “Feed my sheep”. (Joh 15:13, 17, 26; 21:15, 16, 17.
Divine expectation and the anticipation of being transfigured into an immortal body, gives us boldness to take every opportunity to preach peace to the nations. We are not ashamed of that which God has done, because his tender mercies are is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. This is the tender mercies, which God commended toward us, while we were yet sinners. For while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He died for us, to fulfill his divine purpose. Christ, died to make us inseparable from his divine purpose. Christ, died to make us one. The saints cry, from the depth of the soul: “nothing shall separate us the Love of God” . The saints cry aloud: “tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or sword, shall be able to separate us from the tender mercies of our God. The saints cry aloud: “ fallen angels, demon creatures from outer space, devils, false doctrine, the Anti-Christ, smooth speaking preachers, nor Satan himself shall be able to separate us from the tender mercies of our God.
We are persuaded, that nothing in the height, or depth, or any other creatures, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. We are persuaded, that the witchcraft of Trinitarian or Docetic or Ditheistic systems, shall be able to separate us from the love, of God in Christ Jesus. The saints are persuaded to let their love be without dissimulation. The saints are persuaded, to abhor that which is evil, and cleave to that which is good. The saints are persuaded, to be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love. The saints are persuaded, to prefer one another in honor. The saints are persuaded, to owe no man any thing, but to love one another. The saints are persuaded, to fulfill the law. They are persuaded to adore one God and father, even the Lord Jesus Christ, as the only supreme deity. They are persuaded, to keep the Sabbath Holy; not to commit adultery; not to kill, steal, bear false witness or covet. The saints in Zion, are fully persuaded to fulfill the whole law, namely: “Love God and our neighbor as ourselves”. We know that, Love work no ill, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. To wit we strive for the unity of the spirit in the spirit of love. (Rom 5:5, 8; 8:28, 35, 39; 12:9, 10; 13:8) (Rom 13:9)(Rom 13:10) (Rom 15:30).
God hath prepared, for the saints, something so glorious, that it is incomprehensible to the natural mind. That glorious inheritance, that God has prepared for the saints, is the preparation of a groom for his bride. It is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which for them that love him. God knows those who have the spirit of meekness. God knows those are obedient and believe the apostle’s teachings. God knows them, for these are those that love him; and he knows those that are his. Now, if any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema! Maranatha! (1Co 2:9; 4:21; 8:3; 16:22, 24; 2Co 2:4).
The saints are under the control, of the love of Christ. The saints are under the control, of pureness, knowledge, longsuffering, and kindness. The saints are under the control, of the Holy Ghost. Therefore, the saint abound in every thing. The saints abound in faith, utterance, knowledge, diligence, and in love one to another. (2Co 2:8; 5:14; 6:6; 8:7, 8, 24; 11:11).
God loves the saints, because they are controlled by his spirit of love. By the love and peace of Christ, the saint are perfect, of good comfort, of one mind, and live in peace, because, the God of love and peace is with us. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, is with the saints. In the saints, faith works by love. For by love we serve one another. For the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith. From the foundation of the world, Christ, choose us in him to be holy and without blame before him in love. God, dwells in our hearts by faith, being rooted and grounded in love. The love of Christ, which passes knowledge. The love of Christ, that fills with all the fulness of God. The love of Christ, that fills with all lowliness, meekness, longsuffering, and forbearance. The love of Christ, that speaks the truth so that we may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Christ, from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.(2Co 12:15; 13:11, 14; Gal 5:6, 13, 14, 22; Eph 1:4, 15; 2:4; 3:17, 3:19; 4:2, 4:15, 4:16) .
The saints, walk in love, because Christ loves us and gave himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. There, if there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, let us be of one accord, of one mind, having the same love. A love that declares, our faith in Christ Jesus. A love that declares, that our heart is comforted, being knit together unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. The Lord make us increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men. We are taught of God to love one another. We are taught of God to esteem each other very highly. The Lord directs our heart into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. The Lord directs our heart to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. The Lord Jesus Christ, has given us the spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. He has not given us the spirit of fear. The spirit of power, is in holding fast the form of sound words, which is spoken by the apostles. In Christ Jesus, we work to manifest love, in that we seek to minister to the saints. We seek to consider one another to provokeanother to love and to good works. We seek to let brotherly love continue.(Col 3:19; Eph 5:2, 25, 28, 33; 6:23, 24; Phi 1:9, 17; 2:1, 2; Col 1:4, 8; 2:2; 1Th 1:3; 3:12; 4:9; 5:8, 13; 2Th 2:10; 3:5; 1Ti 1:14; 1Ti 6:10, 11; 2Ti 1:7, 13; 4:8; Tit 2:4; 3:4, 15; Phm 1:5, 7, 9; Heb 6:10; 10:24; 13:1; Jam 1:12; 2:5, 8).
The saint of God, though they have not yet, seen the Lord Jesus Christ, love and believe him, while rejoicing with joy unspeakable and full of adoration and praise. The saints, have purified their souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit geniune love of the brethren. The saints, have purified their souls, by fervently loving another. To Fervently love another, means to have compassion one of another; it means to be pitiful and courteous. To Fervently love another, means that God, has allowed us to keep his commandments. To Fervently love another, means that God, has perfected in us his love. God has bestowed upon us his love. The love if God, made us sons of God. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abideth in death.(1Pe 1:8, 22; 2:17; 3:8, 10; 1Jo 2:5, 15; 3:1, 11, 14).
We know the love which God has toward us, because he laid down his life for us; and as such we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. We know that we love God, for when we see that our brother have need; we open up our bowels of compassion from him. We know that we love God, because of our feelings of fondness and friendship for the children of God. Our fondness and friendship and bowels of compassion for one another, declares that we believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ; and we love out of the obedience which he has bestowed upon us. We love one another, because we are born of the nature of God. The nature of God, is love. Everyone that ; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that has the seniments of fondness, friendship and bowels of compassion toward the saints is born of God. We have this fondness, friendship and bowels of compassion toward the saints, because, Christ manifests toward us the love of God. In this manifestation, God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. In this manifestation, God loves us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1Jo 3:16, 17, 18, 23; 1Jo 4:7, 8, 9, 10, 11).
The love of God is manifested in us, through the boldness we display in the day of judgment. A boldness, which is without fear. A boldness upon which Christ has showered his love. A boldness, in which love is perfected in us. By this we know that we love God, because we love the children of God, and keep his commandments. The commandments of God are not grievous. ( 1Jo 4:18, 19, 20, 2; 5:2, 3; 2Jo 1:1, 3, 5, 6; 3Jo 1:1).
The Death of Christ communicates to us the tenderness, joy and delight of the Godhead in bringing salvation; Loves communicates God's deaire to be joined to and cling to his body the church,;this expresses his desire in terms of compassion, cherishing, tenderness, mercy, pity; and his duty.
